Warning: When, during the loading, the program do not finds a verse, it goes until the end of file "A" looking for that verse. If that happens for thousands of verses, the loading can take a few minutes (up to 3 min) so, for a quick loading, the two files must be similar, a New Testament with a New Testament, a complete Bible with another complete Bible, etc.
If one of the books have apocrypha and/or deuterocanonical books, the loading can last for up to 15s.

A) Settings (to choose another Bibles, fonts, etc.)

To choose other Bibles click on Settings (the gear), use the buttons "Chose A" and "Chose B" (the Bibles are in the subdirectory /txt) and then click the button "Load". You may want to save these choices by using the button "Save As".
Note: If you save with the name manuscript4u.ini, these Bibles will be the ones loaded when the program is started.
You may save this .ini files anywhere but the default, the one that have the name manuscript4u.ini must be in the same directory of the executable.

Or you can click on the button "Open" and chose one of the existing setting files (.ini) that will load with one click the two bibles and set the fonts. You can create your own .ini files and save with any name but with the extension .ini.

If the bibles A and B are too different, like an entire Bible and a New Testament for example the loading will take up to 2 min. You may do that, no problem, but to avoid wasting time it is better load Bibles with Bibles and New Testaments with New Testaments. If only one of the Bibles includes some Apocrypha it will take a little more time too (up to 15s).

In the files included in this package it was used the following code:
o00_ indicates an Old Testament (o for Old)
0n0_ a New Testament
00a_ Apocrypha/Deuterocanonics (usually only those that are in the Septuagint file)
on0_ Old and New Testaments
o0a_ Old Testament and Apocrypha (Try to load that with another file with the same first three characters in the name)
ona_ Old, New and Apocrypha

But you don't need to adopt these codes if you don't want to. You can change the names of the files writing Old Testament, Bible, New, etc. You can identify the way you want but it is important to identify for the motives explained above.

B) Search for words (or phrases):

If you want to search for a word in a file in Hebrew or Greek encoded in UTF8 you will not be able to type the word, just select the word having the box of options of the behavior of the mouse checked in "qui" ("quick search"). This is the easiest way of searching but you need to have the word on the screen to select it (unless your system is set to type Hebrew and Greek characteres).

Alternatively, choose "sea" ("search") as the option of behavior of the mouse and double click on the word. The word will be transfered to the searching box, click on "Apply" or press Enter.

If you are going to search in a file with Roman characteres (English, etc.), click on the button "Search" (the magnifying glass on blue background) and type the word or phrase and click on "Apply" or press Enter.

Some times it is convenient to add a space before the word so words that only a part are equal to the searching string will not be included. Unless you do want that effect.

The searching is cumulative (word1 AND word2). For example: Suppose you want to find a verse that contains the words "sin" and "forgiven". Click on "Search" (the button with the magnifying glass and blue background) and type sin, select B (right side text, assuming that the Bible in English is in the right side) and press Enter or click on "Apply". In a NT, you will get about 230 verses that have the word "sin". Then do another search for the word forgiven and press Enter. Now you have about 15 verses that have these two words.

Note that the word "sins" also appeared. If you had added spaces after the word sin it wouldn't happen. On the other hand you wouldn't get the words that have a period or comma or any other charactere right after the word.

Now, suppose that you are reading a search result and the verse you are reading is Luke 5:20 and you want to see the context of that verse. Put the verse Luk 005:020 at the top of the screen and click on "Entire book" (the little bible with yellow background). To go back to the search click on "Back to the last search" (the "time tunnel" white and blue).

If you want to go quickly to the 12th chapter of Revelation, for example, click on the button "Search" and type Rev 012

C) Edit the search:

Click on the button with the magnifying glass and black background.
You can save on file or copy (ctrl+A, ctrl+C) and paste (ctrl+V) on a text editor.
Tip: you can create interlinear Bibles by searching for an "space". (Every verse has a blank space between the words.)

D) Languages for the name of the books:

To load the names of the Bible books in English, click on the Gear (Settings), go the the second page (More), and click on "English". Then go back and clique on "save" and "Load". Only English and Portuguese are avaiable but you can edit the file book_names.txt and write the names of the books in another language. (Only two languages are suported so you will have to delete one of the languages there to write the new one.)

E) Grid
The grid at the left is the pagination control. With the mouse on it, scroll the pages. Clicking on it you can use the cursor keys, Page Up and Page Down keys, etc.

F) Installation and getting more Bibles:

1- Unpack the zip file in any directory (folder).
 2- Click on manuscript4u

That's it. You should be able to read the Bibles that comes with this package. To get more Bibles go to

http://www.unboundbible.org/index.cfm?method=downloads.showDownloadMain
or
http://unbound.biola.edu/index.cfm?method=downloads.showDownloadMain

and use the program convert (in the subdirectory /convert) to convert from the UnBound Bible format to the format used by this program.

Suggestion:
With a text editor write a script like:

#!/bin/bash
# script shell to open manuscript4u
cd /home/yourname/bibles/manuscript4u/
./manuscript4u

and save on the Desktop or an easy to access folder with the extension .sh. Then right click on it, go to properties => permissions and give permission to it to be executed as a program. This is a "shortcut" (Note that the "path" (../yourname/bibles/) is just an example, you have to write the path of the directory where the program manuscript4u is.)

obs. the first two lines of the script are commentaries and not really necessary.

G) Disinstallation:
This program do not modify in anyway your system. To uninstall just remove the files (and the shortcut, if you have created one).

H) Errors:
If you find any typo on the texts or bug on the program, please, let me know through the email on the About box.

I) Texts:
I tried to include only free texts (Some are Public Domain, some Creative Commons, others with legal status defined by the author but with a free non profit distribution clause). If you disagree about some text, please, let me know and the file will be right away excluded, if it is the case to do so.
