A Filter is used to filter a list of items. The nature of the filtering is determined by the implementation.

Filters the given List of items. The key may be used by an implementation to influence the filtering.

Parameters:

items - The items to filter. Must not be null.

key - The key

Returns:

The filtered items, never null.

Throws:

IllegalArgumentException - if items is null
